End of second academic term
On Friday 18th August 2017, Acacia Ridge School, Uganda closed for the second term holidays.
Some of the parents accompanied their children to receive their academic reports. It was finally time to go home and get a break after more 3 months of hard work.
The third term will start on 11th September 2017. It is anticipated that new children will be admitted next term.
The major challenge the school faced in second term was inadequate financing. Most of the parents did not pay tuition fees in full. It is important that the school provides some bursaries to children whose families face financial challenges.
In July and August, the school was able to feed the pupils from its stock of maize. This cut down on costs of feeding.
It was not possible to host children in the boarding section this term due to limited finances. It is planned that the boarding section of the school will be fully launched at the beginning of the academic year 2018.
